We are Mark and Laura Larson. In May 2018 we took over the Inn and have been loving it ever since. As new owners, we’re staying true to the classic style by providing a comfortable stay at a great value. 

As one of the few original “Mom and Pop” motels remaining in Houghton, we’ve embraced the classic feel and dropped the franchise. Our place is a definite throwback to days gone by. We have been family-owned and operated for over 50 years and look forward to having you as our guest when you visit the Keweenaw Peninsula and community of Houghton/Hancock.  

The Inn is located just two miles from Michigan Tech and four miles from downtown Houghton, making it the perfect basecamp for your Keweenaw adventure. We are confident that Copper Country Inn is the best value in lodging. 

You don’t need to equate high rates with quality. If you are tired of the lack of appreciation you find at many franchise properties and you don’t mind the “folksy” feeling of a smaller place – we just might be for you. 

You’re not going to get an interior corridor, electronic keys, or a front desk staffed 24 hours. BUT we have safe, at-door parking, and procedures for late arrival. We don’t take personal checks but we accept all major credit cards.
